We've always had Aunt Jenny and Aunt Amber cut our hair, but Aimee needed a cut before school started and we weren't going to be seeing them, so I took her to Beauty Brands and she got it done there.

Robbery

Our home was burglarized in August. The kids and I went to go swim at a friends house and while we were there Gavin called and told me that he came home for lunch someone had broken in. He pulled up to find the garage open and the front door kicked in. They took mostly electronics and jewelry, also a gun and SS cards and birth certificates. Our insurance company was great. The saddest thing for me was that they took my wedding ring. I had been wearing an anniversary band and my wedding ring was in my jewelry box with a lot of other sentimental jewelry. Needless to say we are now "armed" and ready so it won't happen again.

Emergency Room Visit

I was fixing Aimee's hair in the bathroom, and she was kneeling down on the stepping stool like she often does and she passed out. She was talking one minute and then her head dropped forward and landed on a towel on the counter. I picked her up and shook her saying, "Aimee, Aimee, wake up". After probably 5-10 seconds she woke up and I set her on the floor. I called my dad, and then the pediatrician and they said to take her to the ER. So at the ER they did an EKG, and a blood test and determined it was vasal vago syncope, essentially she passed out from prolonged kneeling. She doesn't kneel while I fix her hair anymore. Here's a pic from the ER.

10th Anniversary Cruise

We decided to take a cruise for our 10th wedding anniversary. We left out of LA and went to Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallerta and Mazatlan. We had a really great time. We snorkeled, shopped, ate, ice skated, golfed, ate shuffle boarded, swam on horses, went to lots of shows and ate. Here's a hodge podge of pictures.

Wedding and Beach Weekend

Gavin's brother Nate was getting married in Houston and while we were out there we made a little beach detour. We drove out there for the wedding on Friday. Friday afternoon we headed down to the beach and spent the night down there. Then Saturday we drove back up to Bryan for the reception. This was the kids first trip to the beach and we all had a great time. The kids got to spend time with their cousin Trystan, Aunt Mandy, and Grandpa and Grandma Larson too.

We decided to have the kids take swimming lessons. A couple of friends were signing up and they were all in the same class together. Aimee and Geoff were pretty afraid of the water. They are the kids who scream when you are rinsing their hair and the water accidentally trickles on to their face. They didn't learn much. They aren't as afraid of the water anymore, but I don't know if that is a good thing. Now they aren't afraid to jump in the pool, but they still can't swim.

Week Before Easter

I'm skipping the Easter pictures because I posted a ton on facebook so if you want to see pics you'll have to look there. We had a busy week. Gavin went out of town the Sunday before Easter. Gavin's parents came to visit and so did Gavin's brother Nate and soon-to-be wife Holly. I had to speak in sacrament meeting on Easter so I was preparing a talk that week and my primary lesson too. Gavin came home on Friday night and the Easter bunny stopped Saturday morning. Sunday morning when I woke up I had a pinched nerve in my neck and couldn't hold my head straight because it hurt so bad. I guess it's because I was so stressed during the week. By the time we got to church I could hold my head straight but still couldn't turn it toward the right. By the end of the day it was feeling better. Easter Sunday we had some of our friends over for dinner. It was a crazy but fun week.

Grandparents Visit

My parents and grandparents came to visit for the day on Thursday. We went to the park to fly kites and then to Cabela's (the free zoo) to look at the animals. It was great to see them and we had a really fun time.

Sunday was Niall's first birthday! He opened a few presents. He got some clothes from Grandma and Grandpa Larson, a push and go train from Aimee and Geoffrey, and a steering wheel that makes noise from Mom and Dad. I bought him a really cute birthday hat to wear but he wanted nothing to do with it. I had Gavin hold it above his head so I could take a picture. Then we had banana cupcakes and banana split ice cream and Niall ate his whole cupcake.

I took the kids to Let's Jump during spring break and they had a blast. Their friend A.J. came and they played for 3 hours. We went back after dinner for another 1 1/2 hours. They slept very well that night.

We don't go out to eat very often. It's kinda hard with all the kids, but it's so exciting for them when we do. We like this new place by our house called Habanero's...especially the taco Tuesday's. Can't beat $3.99 for a meal! It's really great food. They are switching to full waiter service though which makes it more expensive and more time consuming to go out. But carry out is just as good.

One of these days I'll cook a Thanksgiving dinner all on my own...but why start now. We have the food we like down to a science (plus a few experimental recipes) and it's soooo great! And what 's a 3 hour drive for great food?! My experimental recipes this year were Creamy Brussels Sprouts (which I made as a joke because my Dad hates them), and Macadamia Nut Pie, both were very yummy.

Brain Washing Infomercials

My kids watch about an hour of TV in the morning while I feed the baby, eat breakfast, take a shower, and do some things. Usually they watch PBS, but with this switch to digital TV we now have a cartoon channel called qubo. I like a few of the cartoons on this channel so they watch it sometimes. I don't like the fact that they aren't educational like PBS and that they have commercials. PBS has no commercials. I've found out that the commercials on this channel are more like infomercials.

I was sweeping the kitchen floor on Saturday and Aimee says, "Mom you need the swivel sweeper. It's a vacuum with rollers not wheels. You can make it move back and forth and side to side." It happened again a few days later.

Aimee: We need the space bags.
Me: What space bags?
Aimee: They're on TV. They have 4 layers of protection.
Me: Why do we need them?
Aimee: Because it's cramped and cluttered and out of control.

I didn't realize how much she was picking up from these commercials. And no my house is not, "cramped, cluttered, and out of control". Maybe we'll watch less of this channel.

Dentist Time Again

There were a couple unexpected finds at this visit. Aimee's 6 year molars are coming in! Who knew! The bottom 2 are poking through. Geoff has 2 soft spots on his top back molars. The dentist gave me some fluoride that I now have to dab on those 2 teeth every night. Could have been worse!

Our Anniversary Dinner

We decided instead of buying each other pottery this year, which is the traditional gift for a 9th wedding anniversary, that we would go out to eat at an expensive restaurant. Now we've been to a couple of nice places before but this one was quite the dining experience. They started off by giving us a tray of pickles when we sat down. We thought it was kind of weird so I asked the waitress about them and she said they were bread and butter pickles soaked in horseradish. Gavin tried them and he said they were interesting. Gavin wanted an appetizer sampler so we got that and it had 2 shrimp, a crab cake, and a beef croustade. I ate the beef thing and it was good. We both ordered steak and 2 sides. The first side was off the cob creamed corn. It's taken off the cob every 30 minutes, it was really yummy. The second was macaroni and cheese made with white cheddar and toasted parmesan and drizzled with TRUFFLE OIL. We'd never had truffle oil before. The most entertaining part was when they brought the food and the 2 side dishes they dished it up onto your plate for you right there. Also Gavin had a baked potato and a girl came by with the toppings and asked him if he wanted each one and put them on the potato for him. My favorite thing was the dessert. Gavin had creme brulee and I had some kind of Texas pecan cake. The cake tasted just like Italian cream cake and I had been telling Gavin recently that when I worked at the Brick Oven Restaurant they had come Italian cream cake that I loved and I'd really been wanting some. It was great!

This is one of the walls when you walk in. They are covered with photographs of the people who've been to the restaurant. I love classic movies and was excited to see so many actors and actress's autographed photos on the wall. There was Grace Kelly, Ava Gardner, Bette Davis, and Lana Turner. Gavin said the restaurant has been around since the 20's.

We went to see Hancock at 10:10 after the fireworks and after the kids were in bed. It was pretty good. The funny thing about going to movies late at night is you (well maybe just me) think things are funnier than they really are because you're so tired. So I was laughing at a lot of stuff and Gavin kept looking at me like I was stupid. There really were some funny parts though.

OK, lets talk about this grip. This is the claw grip. It's for real golf. Who plays putt putt like this? Anyone besides Gavin? It looks like his wrist is going to break off. I guess it works because he beat me. I did get a hole in one though and he didn't get any.

The went to Buffet Palace in Round Rock. This was the first place we went out to eat together when we were dating.

How gross is this. Spicy baby octopus. Gavin thought he would try it but then we didn't know how you're supposed to eat it. Do you just eat the body, the legs, or do you pop the whole thing in your mouth?? He ended up not eating it but it was fun to take pictures of.

For Father's Day I made Gavin a yummy breakfast and then he opened a few presents. Aimee made him a paper tie at the library and Geoff gave him a picture. I got him a golf hat from Sawgrass (a course in Florida) off of ebay, some "award winning" honey mustard (that he tried and doesn't like) and 4 Wilkie Collins books.

Our Memorial Day Weekend

We decided to make the 3 hour drive to visit my parents for the long Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday Gavin and I got to go on a date! We went to the outlet mall to buy Gavin some sunglasses to go with his cool car. Then we went to Ikea. I bought the bumper I needed to match Niall's crib bedding and then we ate there. I hadn't eaten at Ikea before. It was pretty good. I had swedish meatballs and Gavin had ribs. Then we went to the movies and saw the Indiana Jones movie. It was fun to get away from the kids for awhile.

David's birthday was Sunday.

Gavin has always been a car guy. After a recent promotion he decided it was time to sell the Corolla and get himself something more suited to his taste. After a long search on the internet of Audi's and BMW's that were all over the US he decided to go test drive a "Saleen S281 Supercharged" here in Fort Worth. He called me after the drive and said that he had bought it. I think it was love at first sight and he hasn't stopped smiling since.

Aimee's 5th Birthday Party

I decided to have a birthday party for Aimee and let her invite all of her girlfriends. She's never had one with friends before and has gone to a lot of her friends parties this year and really wanted to have one. I started planning early because I knew I wouldn't have time to go out and buy all the things I needed once the baby was born. I also knew I wouldn't be able to handle the baby and making and serving lunch and doing games and stuff so I had my mom come up from Georgetown. She also brought with her my sister in law and 3 sisters so I had lots of help. It was really fun...loud and crazy but fun. Listening to all those girls sing Happy Birthday to Aimee and watching her face was worth all the effort. I made a book on Snapfish for Aimee so she can have it to look at and remember her party...and because I don't have time for scrapbooking anymore.

Aimee lost another tooth! She now has a gaping hole in the bottom of her mouth. The permanent tooth replacing the first one she lost is growing in now though. She thinks losing teeth is great because she's getting so rich.

Aimee Lost a Tooth

Last week Aimee told us that one of her teeth was loose. At first I was worried because she seems too young but in talking with dental school David he said that it happens between 4 and 6. She had her teeth come in early as a baby so I guess this is normal. Maybe tonight the tooth fairy will visit our house for the first time!
